WELCOME!
We are so glad you have found First Presbyterian Day School, an outreach ministry of First Presbyterian Church of Shreveport, Louisiana. The energy, excitement and the sense of adventure are felt when you walk the halls of our early childhood program. We strongly believe that a child’s preschool experience can influence the way he or she feels about school and learning for many years to come. Founded in 1972, our preschool has a long tradition of excellence serving the Shreveport-Bossier area. OUR MISSION
First Presbyterian Day School offers a preschool enrichment program consistent with developmentally appropriate practices of early childhood education. We provide a healthy, safe, and nurturing Christian environment in which teachers and children together may learn to live in a Christ-like way. We value each child’s individual growth in the areas of social, emotional, physical, spiritual, and cognitive development. We welcome all families from all races and faiths.
OUR PROGRAM
First Presbyterian Day School (FPDS) is an outreach ministry of the First Presbyterian Church of Shreveport, Louisiana. FPDS is governed by the Church through the Preschool Advisory Committee, a subcommittee of the Division of Children's Ministry of the Session of First Presbyterian Church. The Advisory Board is made up of members of First Presbyterian Church, Director of Children's Ministry, Preschool Director, and members at large. The program is administered by the Day School Director, Kathy Booth.
WHO WE SERVE
FPDS serves children from three months to four years of age. Our hours of operation are Mondays, Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays from 8:30am to 2:00pm.
The Early Years Program
is designed for children three months to three years of age. This program includes daily activities which encourage growth in language, social, spiritual, cognitive, and motor development. Our low teacher/child ratio ensures personal attention and quality care. Parents have a two-day or four-day per week option. Two's and Young Three's will also participate in weekly Children's Chapel in late Fall and Spring.
The Preschool Program is highly recognized in our community and is well established. We have been in existence for more than 40 years. Our excellent program is designed to encourage children to have fun with their friends, learn new skills, be creative, play and develop their independence! Preschoolers also have the wonderful opportunity to attend Chapel every Wednesday. Our Preschoolers use their artistic creativity by finger painting, coloring, gluing, molding clay sculptures, and creating a mini version of themselves with mixed materials. Our little ones also enjoy music by singing, dancing, and participating in other musical activities. Besides playing outside on a daily basis, children participate in holiday celebrations, breakfast events with parents and grandparents, parades, pizza picnic and much more! Our preschoolers know how to have fun at FPDS!
