First Presbyterian Day School

First Presbyterian Day School is a ministry of First Presbyterian Church Shreveport.  The preschool program offers developmentally appropriate practices of early childhood education.  We provide a healthy, safe environment in which teachers and children together may learn to live  in a Christ-like way.  We value each child's individual need for growth in the areas of social, emotional, physical, spiritual and cognitive development.  We welcome families from all races and faiths.

First Presbyterian Day School serves children from the ages of three months to four years of age.  This unique program is well-known throughout the Shreveport-Bossier area.  Each staff member is trained and certified in infant/ child CPR and first aid.  Every classroom follows a two-adult policy for all ages.  The hours of operation are Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Thursdays from 8:30 AM to 2:00 PM.

We believe that your child's preschool experience can influence the way he or she feels about school and learning for many years to come. Children are prepared for Kindergarten and beyond in the three and four year-old classrooms.  Each classroom in this age group maintains a certified teacher and an aide.  Emphasis is placed on developing skills in the areas of:
  • Social interaction
  • Language
  • Fine Motor Coordination (including pre-writing and writing)
  • Spirituality
  • Cognition (including letter and number recognition)
  • Gross Motor Activities
Children in the Preschool K3 and K4 program receive additional enrichment activities in spiritual development, music and movement, and library story time.
